Yoga for Athletes (Hatha)
Hatha Yoga is a slower paced practice, giving more time to get into poses while working on alignment and stretching.
Yoga aids athletes by increasing holistic, organic strength; by creating enough flexibility in the muscles and range of motion in the joints so that they can move fluidly and to prevent injury; and by sharpening mental focus. Yoga is an approach to balance: balance of the body in space; balance between strength and flexibility; balance between work and rest, doing and being; balance of mind, body, and spirit. Yoga for athletes not only helps with flexibility, but also helps to keep athletic bodies balanced and strong. By addressing imbalances in conditioning, and sequencing yoga poses to realign, athletes can find
increased range of motion, better body awareness, and a competitive edge.
